Manuel Ermecheo - Assistant Director, Film Office

Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, I am an artist, maker, and researcher based in New York City. After completing a BFA in Media Arts in Canada, I earned a Master’s in Media Studies at The New School. My practice engages with media, technology, and cultural identity, using experimentation with form and material to challenge established norms. Through my projects—including MECHEO.store, a platform for masks and wearable objects—I investigate how spectacle, play, and visual allure can both reveal and complicate hidden social realities. My work seeks to provoke reflection while creating moments of immersion and critical encounter.
