Paris Phillips - Technician, Wood, Metal & Light

Paris Phillips is an artist and metalworker originally from Connecticut who has been living in New York since 2017. She received a BFA from The Cooper Union in 2022. Paris uses traditional metalworking techniques and has a background in forging which is a central influence in her work both historically and materially. She is interested in analog and obsolete forms of communication, the use of common and accessible materials, and the importance of practicality, self sufficiency and material knowledge. She has recently been awarded fellowships and residencies at Penland School of Craft, Peters Valley School of Craft, and Center for Metal Arts. Paris has worked professionally as a technician, fabricator, and technical educator.
