Ali Rufrano-Ruffner - Technician, Wood/Metal
ALI RUFRANO-RUFFNER (she/they) is an artist, muralist, sculptor, social activist, and art educator living in Brooklyn. Influenced by graffiti, glamor, hip-hop, funk, techno, magic, the internet, and her friends, ALI fuses these elements with found, fabricated, and handmade objects. Continuously interested in rigorous, authentic, one-on-one, human-spirited approaches to public space, their practice is dedicated to a culture of revolution. ALI focuses on creating art and sculpture that help us radically imagine worlds where we can truly care about each other.
RUFRANO-RUFFNER has exhibited works both nationally and internationally, demonstrating a deep commitment to local arts and culture building. Known as a “unicorn of public art,” their vast range of artistic responses to social issues is aimed directly at building a more just future.
RUFRANO-RUFFNER has collaborated with artists at the Brooklyn Museum, Socrates Sculpture Park, the Metro Transit Authority, Mural Arts Philadelphia, Otherworld Philadelphia, and Vox Populi Gallery. She holds an M.Ed in Art Education and Community Arts Practices from Tyler School of Art + Architecture, a BFA in Sculpture from UD Art + Design, and a BA in Gender Studies with a concentration in Violence Prevention from the University of Delaware.
RUFRANO-RUFFNER continues to work towards her goals of staying silly, grounded and authentic while creating equitable public art that actualizes the imaginary practices within all of us.
