Print Finishing Studio

Orientations for resources in the space are offered throughout the semester in a limited time frame. Orientations for printing, film scanning, and heat press can be scheduled by appointment. Please contact the Photography & Media Resources team by email to schedule an orientation.

Students must also complete the Photography & Media Resources agreement form.

Students wishing to use this space can check in or book a reservation with the technician stationed at the front desk, located in the fifth-floor lobby of 66 Fifth Avenue. Reservations can only be made in-person. Walk-ins are welcomed while there’s occupancy.

The Print Finishing Studio supports students’ analog and digital processes—some of the latter being from start to finish. The resources available to all New School students, with some requiring orientations. Included are Mac computer stations with industry standard Eizo monitors, a flatbed scanner, Flextight virtual drum scanner for professional-quality film scanning, small and large format inkjet printers—one which can print up to 64” wide—and heat press machines strictly intended for darkroom fiber-based photo paper. Also included are flat files for storing prints and roll paper storage, both of which are available to photography students.

This space is one of many locations on campus for students to make professional-quality, high-resolution prints on their own inkjet paper. Students also have access to a variety of printers and scanners via IT Technology Labs.
